The Story of the Twelve Zodiac Animals
Today’s lesson was about The Story of the Twelve Zodiac Animals.
We began by learning how the Chinese zodiac came to be.
A long time ago, people didn’t have a good way to keep track of years and time. The Jade Emperor decided to hold a river-crossing race among all the animals. The first twelve animals to reach the other side would each have a year named after them. That’s how the twelve zodiac signs were created.
Next, we learned a fun and cheerful Twelve Zodiac Song. Through this song, the children could easily remember the order of the twelve animals.

After that, we played a guessing game called “Who Am I?” I gave clues about different animals, and the children guessed which zodiac animal I was describing. This game made everyone very excited and helped them review the names and order of the zodiac animals once again.
Craft Time: Making a Little Snake
Materials: scissors, glue, colored paper, colored pens.
Instructions:
1. Fold a piece of colored paper in half with the open side facing right.
2. Draw half of the snake’s head on the paper, then cut it out and unfold it to get a symmetrical
snake head.
3. Cut a long rectangle from another color of paper.
4. Fold it back and forth like an accordion to make the snake’s body.
5. Glue the head and body together.
6. Cut out a forked tongue and a curved tail, then draw or stick on two big eyes.
And there you have it — a cute little snake is finished!
Homework:
Please encourage your child to sing the Twelve Zodiac Song at home for Mum and Dad, and to imitate the movements of each animal. This will help them remember the zodiac animals in a fun and active way.
