We reviewed the Chinese numbers we learned, greeting words, days of the week, and this week, we started learning colours, including red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. We shared a book titled ‘小蓝和小黄’ (Blue and Yellow), and we learned a new song called ‘颜色歌’ (Colour Song). Our children are so interested in learning colours, even though they find the colour ‘orange’ a bit tricky to pronounce.
For homework:
1. Please print out the colour sheet attached for practice. Remember, we have only learned five colours so far. We will learn other basic colours over the next three weeks.
2. Read the book ‘小蓝和小黄’ with your child again, ask questions about the story, and do some painting together to explore how to create new colours by mixing the existing ones.
3. Sing the song ‘颜色歌’.
4. Practice asking and answering questions with family members about their favourite colours. For example, ‘你喜欢什么颜色？我喜欢__色’ （nǐ xǐ huān shí me yán sè ？wǒ xǐ huān __sè ）/(What colour do you like? I like the colour ___).”
