1. Continue practicing counting (1-100), singing the days of the week song, and dialogue practice: “What day is it today/tomorrow/yesterday?” Answer with “Today is…, yesterday was…, tomorrow will be…”. Also, learn new daily expressions: “How’s the weather today?” Answer with “It’s windy, rainy, snowy, sunny, or cloudy.”
2. New content for this lesson: Continuing with Lesson 1 of the Chinese Paradise 3A textbook, reviewing the Chinese expressions for the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Also reviewing related vocabulary: “(really) cold, hot, warm, cool.” In class, students shared the characteristics of each season. Most students liked summer the most, followed by winter. Students began practicing short sentences: “Spring has come, it’s warm; Summer has come, it’s hot; Winter has come, it’s cold; Autumn has come, it’s cool.”
3. Learned a poem: “Goose, Goose, Goose.”
4. Started learning Chinese pinyin: ā á ǎ à, ō ó ǒ ò, ê, ē é ě è, ī í ǐ ì.
5. New Chinese characters: 人 (person), 大 (big), 天 (sky), 春 (spring), 小 (small), 木 (tree), 林 (forest), 森 (woods). Reviewed previously learned characters: 一 (one), 二 (two), 三 (three), 四 (four), 五 (five), 六 (six), 七 (seven), 八 (eight), 九 (nine), 十 (ten), 口 (mouth), 日 (sun), 电 (electricity), 明 (bright).
Homework:
1. Please complete the practice of writing the new characters.
2. Review the pronunciation practice of the four tones in pinyin: ā á ǎ à, ō ó ǒ ò, ê, ē é ě è, ī í ǐ ì.
3. Review all the previously learned characters and complete the spelling practice.
4. Read and practice the dialogue on page 8 of the textbook.
